Battle of Agincourt

On Friday we re-enacted the battle of Agincourt. It was so fun!

Today we had a powhiri to welcome our new friend Cash. His Mum, Nana and big sister came along to tautoko.
We now have 15 tamariki in the Potiki class.

Mahi pangarau

In pangarau our group have been imaging. Today Lucy had a go at counting on! She did so well! Anahera has been counting on for a while- so today we decided to try some bigger numbers. Tino pai korua!

Taiaha with Matua Pryor

This term we have started taiaha practice as part of hakinakina. This is wonderful practice for our coordination and sense of direction. Matua Pryor volunteers his time, we are so lucky!

Nau Mai, Haere Mai Louis!

Welcome to our new friend Louis! Last Thursday we had a powhiri for Louis and his whanau. Louis' Dad played the guitar and we shared some lovely kai. Louis loves the big adventure and spiderman. Louis is so clever, he can already write his name and identify numbers up to 5! Tino pai e tama!

We have been learning to read numbers up to ten. Some of us can even read numbers up to twenty! Today we looked at many numbers and what they looked like on a tens frame. Fantastic mathematical thinking Potiki maa!

Tuhituhi pu.

We have been practicing our tuhituhi pu -handwriting every day. Look how much we have improved. Mahi pai tamariki ma!

V is for vest!

Tahlia and her group have been learning about the letter V. Tahlia quickly realised that she was wearing something that started with v. Tahlia now knows that V is for vest. Tino pai kotiro.

Matua Tom

We have had the privilege of having Matua Tom with us for the past three weeks. Today Matua Tom taught the entire class. As part of our experiences for writing - Matua made play dough with the tamariki. We brainstormed our ideas and got lots of rich language for our mahi tuhituhi! Tomorrow we will begin our writing. Tino pai Matua Tom!
